Supporting St. Peter's
Our parent volunteer program is
designed to give everyone the opportunity to share their many and varied talents
with the school.
Anne Runow is the Volunteer Coordinator and can be reached at jketchum@stpetersdc.org if you have any questions.
Each family was asked to choose between contributing 20 volunteer hours for a two-parent family or 10 hours for a single parent home or a donation of $500 for a two-parent family or $250 for a single parent family by the deadline of September 14th.
The donation of volunteer hours is encouraged.
Complete the volunteer information sheet and return it to the school's front desk or fill in the information electronically, highlight the areas for which you wish to volunteer, SAVE the document and e-mail the completed form back to Anne at jketchum@stpetersdc.org. Please note “Volunteer Form” in the subject heading. (The information sheet is a one-page pdf - Adobe Acrobat Reader® software is a free download.)
Activities that are not listed on the form such as participating in class field trips can be coordinated directly with your child’s teacher and recorded in the volunteer log. But you must have completed Virtus training to chaperone field trips or spend time in the classroom.
If you are chairing any of the activities listed on the form please let Anne know in advance for the list of people who are interested in volunteering. If we get lots of volunteers for certain areas such as providing dishes or assisting with miscellaneous items, we will rotate the list so that you do not get all the phone calls if you happen to be the first on the list.
A new “Volunteer Hours Log Book” is on the piano in the multi-purpose room. Please fill in your hours as you volunteer. We will be sending out tally statements in late fall/early winter as a reminder. It is important to fill in your hours as this is the only formal record that we have for your hours. It will prevent any misunderstandings come the end of the school year, as report cards are not released until all the volunteer hours are satisfied or paid. Many of you volunteer long hours and it is not always easy to remember to put them in the log, but it is important to do so. Also, please let Anne know if anyone is interested in assisting her with the interim tallies of the hours – this time will also count for your hours!
St. Peter's PTO offers parents the unique opportunity to raise funds for our school.
The newest and most convenient feature for St. Peter's School fund raising is gift wrap paper that credits our school with a generous portion of the purchase to support St. Peter's Interparish School.
The school charity auction, the largest fund-raiser of the PTO, is in early December in St. Peter’s Church Hall. Items are auctioned through both a silent and a live auction in conjunction with dinner. Merchants and St. Peter’s families are asked to contribute goods and services to be auctioned off.
St. Peter's School is also part of the Combined
Federal Campaign - designation #39466
and the United Way Campaign - designation # 8889.
Cars, trucks boats, RV's and Trailers can be donated nationwide to benefit St. Peter's School. Call Peter Herdic at (202) 546- 7826. he will ask you some basic questions about the donations and then fax the info to a company that handles the program for the school. They take care of everything: arrange for a towing in four business days, deliver a tax deduction receipt at pickup and all other details. St. Peter's School receives about 70 percent of the sales at auction.
Please stop at the Scrip table (located daily on the lower playground) before you head off to do your weekly shopping. Remember, Scrip doesn't cost you a penny more than you would normally spend — while St. Peter's Interparish School benefits greatly.
